The New Rochelle PTA Council has come to the consensus that the Hybrid model is not the direction in which the City School District of New Rochelle needs to move, at this moment, and the District should focus ALL resources on starting the school year using Distance Learning.

By starting fully remote and using Distance Learning, we can then take the time necessary to ensure that the Hybrid plan is fully developed, meets all guidelines, has parent choice, and has clear and complete documentation.  

Distance Learning 2.0 must evolve into Distance Learning Re-Entry Plan, and in order to do so, the following must happen:

1. Create a committee of teachers who excelled at Distance Learning this spring and develop best practices

2. Begin training teachers on the tools that will be used for Distance Learning prior to school opening

3. Provide technology support to parents to minimize Distance Learning challenges

4. Ensure all students and teachers have adequate Internet access and individual computers or chromebooks

5. Work with community partners to provide locations for households requiring supervision of students during the school day

6. Identify students who require additional support and provide any necessary resources

7. Distribute meals at all schools 

The PTA Council firmly believes that starting the school year fully remote and using Distance Learning is the right course of action for the safety of the students, teachers and staff.  Please sign the petition!

“The New Rochelle PTA Council” ha llegado al consenso que empezar el año escolar con un modelo Hibrido no es la mejor opción para el Distrito de New Richelle en este momento. El distrito debería usar TODOS los recursos para empezar el año escolar con un modelo de distancia “Distance Learning”.

Empezando completamente con un modelo de distancia permitiría tomar el tiempo necesario para asegurar que el modelo Híbrido es desarrollado apropiadamente con las pautas, opciones para los padres, y con documentación clara y completa.

La Enseñanza a Distancia 2.0 debe evolucionar en el plan de reapertura de “Distance Learning” y para que esto suceda se debe:

1- Crear un comité de maestros los cuales fueron expertos en “Distance Learning” en la primavera y desarrollaron prácticas adecuadas.

2- Empezar a entrenar los maestros con las herramientas necesarias para usar “Distance Learning” antes de abrir las escuelas.

3- proveer apoyo tecnológico a los padres para minimizar los retos asociados con el modelo de “Distance Learning”.

4- Asegurarse que todos los estudiantes y maestros tengan acceso adecuado a la internet y a una computadora o “chromebook”.

5- Trabajar con la comunidad para asegurarse que hay lugares donde se pueden supervisar estudiantes durante el día escolar.

6- Identificar todos los estudiantes que requieran más apoyo y proveerles con las herramientas necesarias.

7- Distribuir comida en todas las escuelas.

El “PTA Council” firmemente cree que empezar el año escolar de una manera remota usando “Distance Learning” es la mejor opción para la seguridad de los estudiantes, maestros y todo el personal en las escuelas. Por favor firme la petición!
