We, the undersigned of this petition, petition that one of the single best educators in the history Connecticut, be allowed to return to work and continue to do what he does best - enhance the lives and knowledge of the youth of New Milford, and to allow them to grow and prosper into educated citizens of our community.

Throughout his tenure at New Milford High School, there has never been a person so caring and so dedicated. He sacrificed his personal time on countless occasions to help further the education of so many, the undersigned included. There's no doubt in our minds that we would not be the people we are today without the guidance and support of Mr. Steve Flanagan, and any allegations attempting to prove otherwise are outrageous.

His mentorship may have begun in the classroom, but it didn't end there.  His caring nature extends beyond the confines of the school, onto the stage, onto the playing field, and he has remained a part of each of our lives, well beyond graduation.  He has been a staple found at sporting events and artistic perfomances, and has always supported the entire staff, faculty, and student body of New Milford High School.

It is important to remember that all of the facts surrounding the alleged incidents are not yet known, however we feel that the suspension may still be premature.  We ask for due process for Stephen Flanagan, and based on the spectacular quality of Mr. Flanagan's character and the absence facts being released to the general public, we stand together, behind and in support of Mr. Flanagan.

There is no other professor in the history of New Milford High School who comes close to equaling Mr. Flanagan - as an educator, as a mentor, as a role model, as a fan, as a friend.
