RPHS has a problem with the amount of white teachers/faculty members versus the black/teachers of color. It is concerning that the main subjects like math, science, English and history are all occupied by white people, and the rest of the subjects are also occupied by white people. Whereas the janitors are mostly occupied by POC, and there are only three black teachers in the entire school. There needs to be representation for the students of color in the school. Teachers of color and minority teachers are needed due to the fact that not only can they represent and inspire the minds of the young minority and students of color in our school, but they are also very good in talking comfortably about conversations that are deemed and seen as uncomfortable. History should include more information and educate the young minds more on the history of black people, other than the fact that we were slaves and are still slaves till this day. Civics should also talk about systematic oppression and how minority groups and POC in particular do not benefit from the system, but actually are degraded and killed due to the system 

It is not like the teachers that apply have to live in Ridgefield Park, most of them live in other districts that are up to 30 minutes away. So why is the population of black teachers and teachers of color in our school low. 

The school has no diversity when it comes to staff which is very concerning and has become a routine that has been going on for years. Somethings got to change, is why I made this petition in order to know I did my part in the execution of this needed to be taken action.
