New Hark Line Pilot

The Issue

Ever since I had my first experience of waiting in the giant Hark line as a 1L, I've thought to myself there has to be a better way. Since then, I've been pitching Lou, the general manager (pictured below), on a new line setup that I'll call "parallel processing." However he has rebuffed all of my entreaties. But, he said that if I get enough signatures on this petition, he'll try out my proposal for one day.

Here is the current Hark line setup.

This is the most efficient line IF everybody wants the same things. However, it's possible that's not true. For example, on a given day one person might want potatoes and another might want tofu. Instead of making both wait behind each other, they could each get their food at the same time and then leave. Therefore, I propose: more and shorter lines

It's entirely possible this will not work and the multiplicity of lines will lead to more chaos. However, even if it feels a little more chaotic, I think it'll be more efficient. And in any event, it seems worth trying for one day!

The Hark line might not seem like such a big deal. But suboptimal line planning leads to less time sitting with friends, more indigestion-prone rushed lunches between classes 😱, and sometimes avoiding the Hark altogether (Hark line == leading cause of Huel consumption 🤔?).

Together, we can address this pressing problem and make this line vision become reality (preferably before I graduate in three months!)!
