We are asking the Southern Downs regional council to open new fossicking and recreational reserves in the Stanthorpe area. Currently there is only one small area (Swipers gully) and it has been inaccessible since 2019. 

Stanthorpe has many great gems and crystals including quartz crystals of many varieties, topaz, beryl, feldspar, ruby tin and more! 

Fossicking is becoming a booming hobby and I believe the regional council is missing a fantastic tourism opportunity. The entire south east corner is at their doorstep and Stanthorpe is the closest location to Brisbane and surrounds that show cases the earlier mentioned gems and minerals. Help me show them what they’re missing out on by signing this petition.
