In my South Gate community (New Bern, NC) we are experiencing flooding problems due to our ditches and drains around the perimeter of the community not being maintained throughout the years. I have reached out to the City of New Bern (Public Works) and their response was either Lowe's or property owners were responsible, however there is an Easement that allows the City to maintain electrical and drainage.

This predominantly black community is being ignored. When there is inclement weather such as rain storms the community is saturated and often have standing water in our yards.  This issue is due to water run-off from Lowe's property, which sits higher than the South Gate community.  However something as simple as opening the ditches and cleaning the drains could elevate this problem. An issue that should've been addressed during the planning stage of the initial Lowe's design.

The City of New Bern maintained the ditches years ago, so I'm unclear on why they stopped, nevertheless we have an issue that needs to be addressed.  Either Lowe's or the City of New Bern should do what's right and clean our ditches and unclog our drains.
