Network Rail have just announced that they're removing all bike parking on platforms 3 and 4 at Temple Meads on 6th September.

This seems like a massive blow for cyclists. There's new bike parking promised on Friary at Temple Quay, which is a 3 minute walk from the closest platform according to Google Maps. Compared to rolling up at the station and locking your bike up on the platform, it's going to be pretty inconvenient.

There's also security to consider. Network Rail say the new parking arrangement will be 'lit and covered by CCTV' but compared to the platform which is ticket access only, outside the British Transport Police office, in a high footfall area AND lit and covered by CCTV, it's a massive step backwards.

If this is goes ahead, we're going to be permanently losing (relatively) secure and easy bike parking at Temple Meads.

There's a good chance we've already missed the boat on this, but perhaps it's worth putting up some resistance.
