Netflix promised the fans that s1 of shadow and bone would be a prequel for the characters of the six of crows duology and used flashback scenes from the book to set up for season 2 which was going to be an adaptation of soc for the crow characters (helnik + Matthias in hellgate + bo deleted scene). However, author Leigh Bardugo and show creator Eric Heisserer are now contradicting their original statements and have decided that a soc adaptation will not happen whilst the events of the grisha trilogy are ongoing. This decision on Netflix’s part has left fans of the soc duology, which make up a large part of the viewership for this show (if not most of it) disappointed and disheartened to hear that they might not see their favourite characters in the adaptation they were promised due to the uncertainty that comes with every Netflix show about being renewed. Hence, the fans of the soc duology are demanding that we get our own spinoff!
