Roblox, Discord, and c.ai have added global age verification, and this is not okay.

Roblox has added AI age verification to restrict chat before anyone can use it, they will be forced to use Persona, which scans their face. There have been multiple cases of people being scanned the wrong safe, and this system actually does nothing to stop the child predator problem on Roblox.

Discord is planning to add age verification to detect if a user is under 18 or not to ensure they can know their age before seeing NSFW content. While the good thing is that it was delayed to later this year, it is still a privacy concern

Character.ai has also added global age verification to see if a user is under 18. If they are flagged as a minor, they will be restricted from chat.

All three policies are blatant violations of the First Amendment of the United States, and make the responsibility of raising children companies and governments rather than actually letting parents raise their kids themselves and have them regulate their usage since they're the ones to monitor their children and supervise them. These three companies need to be held accountable for violating the First Amendment of the United States, and yes, they can be sued since all three are US-based companies. We demand NetChoice, The Electronic Frontier Foundation, and Fight For The Future to sue Roblox, Discord, and Character.ai over their age verification policies and they should be recommended to remove their age verification systems. I get it that NetChoice typically sues governments, but they should also be suing companies that implement global age verification to all users. These policies violate COPPA (under 13's data is collected), and they can risk a data breach since they will be collecting IDs.

They should be recommended to implement actual safety features for minor users or implement stricter parental controls that can actually keep anyone (including minors) safe without invading their privacy.
