recognise Roy Larner for his bravery

The Issue

I would like to nominate Roy Larner, also known as the Lion of London Bridge for a St. George’s Cross bravery award for his actions on June 3, 2017.

At the aforementioned date, terrorists Khuram Butt, Youseff Zaghba and Rachid Redouane attacked innocent people on London Bridge. Larner, who was in the area, charged at the attackers and sustained several knife wounds that could have killed him.  Roys selfless act of bravery allowed time for several people to escape who without a doubt would of been injured or killed as the attackers showed no mercy .Roy himself had to then witness the killing of the terrorist whilst laying in a critical condition himself .He was nominated for the George Medal but did not receive it . And I feel he should not be discriminated for his past .

The Sunday times headlined - London Bridge attack: stabbed Millwall fan Roy Larner is different kind of hero. And there were gasps of horror at the Old Bailey when CCTV footage of Roy Larner being stabbed in the stomach by the London Bridge terrorists was shown in court.

Roy was also denied Injury compensation. Roy was repeatedly stabbed eight times in the neck, arm and chest when he confronted the attackers on the night of June 3, 2017. He has been diagnosed with PTSD and anxiety an still needs physio on damaged tendons in his left arm due to the stabbings.

Despite the long lasting damage, he wont be getting any money from the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority for victims of violent crime, denied a George medal  or any award for his selfless act of bravery on the night.

The 4th anniversary of that terrible night is on 3rd June 2021 so please sign and share and get Roy the recognition that he deserves .
