The intersection of Yosemite Drive and Avoca Street in Eagle Rock, CA is a vital crossing point for many Rockdale Elementary and Eagle Rock HS students.  Despite the presence of four painted crosswalks and four-way stop signs, drivers violate traffic laws daily, resulting in several near miss accidents, and at least one student struck by a vehicle while in the crosswalk.  The district is unable to provide a crossing guard at this location.

Parents who walk their children to school have been advocating for change at this intersection for several years.  With the support of the ERNC, CD14, Rockdale's PTA, and the school principal, we are finally getting some traction.  CD14 representatives have assessed the area and proposed improvements such as increased visibility of school crossing signage and speed limits, slight relocation of Metro bus stops so they don't block the signage or the intersection, and the installation of safety pylons as seen in other locations along Yosemite Drive. 

A clear show of community support is needed to help push this forward. By signing this petition, you are advocating for a safer environment for all students and residents in the surrounding area.
