Neighborhood Petition Regarding Waymo Routing

The Issue

Petition Summary – Residential Impact from Waymo Vehicle Routing

Residents of the Beverly Grove neighborhood in Hollywood, CA are experiencing significant disruption due to the routing of Waymo autonomous vehicles through local residential streets.

The intersection of 1st Street and Hayworth Avenue has become a primary corridor for Waymo vehicles traveling to and from their charging station located at CBS Television Studios (Fairfax Ave & Beverly Blvd). Dozens of vehicles pass through these residential streets at all hours of the night, with very large volumes converging at the charging facility. However, this issue is not limited to a single residential intersection. Surrounding residential streets that feed into CBS Studios on Fairfax Avenue and Beverly Boulevard are also experiencing high volumes of traffic from Waymo vehicles operating throughout the day and night.

Waymo vehicles operate continuously overnight, and their distinctive operational sound has created ongoing noise disturbances for residents. The frequency of traffic during late-night and early-morning hours has altered the character of what is otherwise a quiet residential area.

Multiple neighbors have expressed concern regarding increased traffic flow, nighttime noise, and the transformation of residential streets into what effectively functions as a commercial fleet access route.

This petition calls for a reassessment of Waymo’s routing patterns and charging operations to reduce the impact on residential streets and restore the quiet enjoyment of the neighborhood.
