Neighborhood overwhelmed with over population and traffic
Neighborhood overwhelmed with over population and traffic
The Issue
Dispite Spring Hills residents objection to rezoning properties adjacent to our neighborhood, city council approved multi-family rezoning to wedge in a 400 unit appartment complex. The city council did so without regard for adequate access from surrounding major roads. They subsequently just relied on traffic to traversing our previously dead road, directly through our neighborhood. We've enjoyed the security, and peace and quite for many years. In fact, many purchased their homes here for that very reason. The very least the city could do is step up to the plate and provide an alternate entrance to these appartments. There's no doubt the city council was more interested in tax revenue than doing right by its citizens. The traffic through our neighborhood is overwhelming. Most of the vehicles exceed the posted 25mph speed limit. If the city votes to rezone a property, they are responsible to ensure adequate access without negatively impacting existing residents. The city still has an opportunity to do right by the Spring Hills residents. They need to facilitate an alternate entrance to the property. It would be a win-win for all involved. It would eliminate traffic through our neighborhood and provide easier, quicker access to surrounding major roads for appartment residents. The city needs to follow through on their actions to rezone these properties by facilitating entrances from the surrounding main roads.
