We, the Needham High Class of 2021, have become  increasingly frustrated with the junior class parking in the upper lot.

We find it unfair that we each paid a hundred dollar fee to be granted access to our parking spaces, yet the juniors take advantage of the extra spaces and do not follow the rules. They continue to take up spaces that we consider “premium,” near the exits, and do not even attempt to park further down.

The juniors driving to school have only recently received their licenses, so are less experienced drivers. Their presence in the upper lot makes it much less safe and comfortable for pedestrians and seniors driving. 

Additionally, due to the pandemic, now more than ever there should be physical separation between students. The juniors should not be permitted to take advantage of the capacity of the lot: we still need to keep distance. 

The seniors have held off on speaking to the juniors for fear of it coming across as hazing or bullying, which is why we present this petition to school administration, even though we are confident that we would not have been treated with this same respect years prior. We waited three years to park in the upper, and we ask that the Class of 2022 does the same.
