SM Entertainment is partnering with MGM Television to create a survival show to form a U.S.-based K-pop group. They are scouting American males aged 13-25 to participate in the show to debut a new unit called NCT Hollywood, under the NCT brand. NCTzens, fans of the group, are very upset and haven't taken the news too well.

SM is in debt and was recently demoted to a regular mid-size business. Pushing through with the NCT Hollywood project will clearly bring them more losses, seeing as not a lot of people will support this new unit. SM prioritized this over creating NCT Japan, a unit the fans have been anticipating for years. A Japanese unit is more in demand than an American one, and this petition also aims to change SM's mind and debut NCT Japan instead of NCT Hollywood. 

Aside from receiving backlash, the future of some NCT members is at stake. Members Shotaro and Sungchan are not yet placed in a fixed unit. Debuting Shotaro in NCT Japan and Sungchan in a new or existing NCT unit will give each of them a more stable future as an idol in the industry.  A member who doesn't belong in a fixed unit would likely get less or no promotions at all. Aside from the two new NCT members, SM fails to promote their existing groups. They've failed to give groups such as EXO and Red Velvet attention and promotion. SM recently debuted a new girl group last November 2020 and they don't receive proper promotions from their company. NCT Dream is gearing up for a comeback on May 10, and the announcement of NCT Hollywood may affect their comeback. SM has to prioritize giving their artists better treatment and promotions. 

We hope this petition gains the attention of NCTzens and other fandoms. If you are not an NCTzen, please help us out. We hope to get as many signs as possible, so SM can see this and reconsider. Let's push back the show and debut NCT Japan!
