Lift the NCAA streamer ban for the FCS national championship

The Issue

On Dec. 18, Toyota Stadium released a statement on Twitter stating that streamers would be banned at the FCS National Championship game on Jan. 6 in accordance with stadium and NCAA rules.

Throwing streamers has been a JMU tradition since the late 1970s, when fans would throw toilet paper onto the basketball court to celebrate the Dukes scoring their first basket. It’s as harmless a tradition as any, and JMU's student newspaper The Breeze is filing a petition to the NCAA asking for the streamer ban to be lifted in time for the game.
