Continue the Fibre to the Curb rollout to the end of Savages Rd, Brookfield

The issue

Residents towards the end of Savages Rd, Brookfield are being arbitrarily relegated to more expensive, less reliable and slower NBN satellite connections with the only other option to continue with aged, compromised and unreliable copper ADSL.

These residents already have very poor communication services and many rely on internet connections to backhaul basic mobile communications. Current ADSL2+ speeds on average are between 1-3mbps with very frequent drop outs. This isolates them from friends and family and also jeopardises their ability to economically participate in an era where working from home is becoming more prevalent. It also direly affects the ability to call for help in case of emergency medical needs.

Nearby residents, on the same and nearby roads are scheduled to receive Fibre-to-the-Curb in the coming months which offers significant advantages and lower plan costs than Satellite NBN. We ask the NBN Co. to extend the fibre rollout another 1.3km (using the existing Telstra pits) to the end of our road to enjoy the same level of access to communication as our nearby neighbours.

By not placing metropolitan residents on the NBN satellites (SkyMuster) it also preserves capability for truly remote Australians who rely on satellite internet as their sole connectivity option.

We don't expect special treatment, just fair and equitable access to services we have already subsidised through our tax dollars as those of other residents in Brisbane.
