I just came from the unholy land of Twitter, where I just found out that my favorite character on my favorite tv show is going to get cut. I am of course talking about Detective Katriona Tamin from NBCs Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. The minute I saw her take stage on the show I knew she was going to get the spotlight as a detective in Manhattan’s Special Victims Unit, and to this day I couldn’t be happier with the writers decision to make her a regular. Detective Kat is portrayed by Jamie Gray Hyder, a wonderful actress in whom I cannot say enough about. Hyder notified her fans today that she and Deputy Chief Christian Garland (portrayed by Demore Barnes) will be leaving the show. Whilst Garland hasn’t been the fullest fleshed out character, it is easy to see how brilliant of an actor Barnes is. These two bring much needed extra representation to the screen, and it would be a horrible to let either one of these two go, much less both of them.

I truly thought the show was setting up Kat to be the next Olivia (as Olivia has been Kragen for a while now (with much more screen time)), and I don’t want her build up to end anytime soon.
