Native Meherrin Tribe membership inclusion

The Issue

Hello everyone my name is Mackenzie Johnson I am a native indigenous women, descendant of SallieM.Lewis, who is the matriarch of The Meherrin Indian tribe. I am a college student who attends the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and my family and I are ready to take a stand and make a change on the ongoing amount of exclusiveness to many Native American people and families like mine, who are ready to be a part of a tribe and great nation. Since 2018 my great-grandmother Florence Eaton White, and her daughter Cheryl White Broadway have been working hard and diligently to rightfully acquire a tribal membership. The time is now to act accordingly and push the need for inclusiveness in local tribes to keep native sacred traditions alive in inclusivity and numbers.
