Removal of Fake Sweat Lodge and Longhouse at Native Child and Family Services of Toronto

Removal of Fake Sweat Lodge and Longhouse at Native Child and Family Services of Toronto
At Native Child and Family Services of Toronto's main company building at 30 College Street, there is a fake sweat lodge on the rooftop and a fake longhouse which is on the first floor.
The two structures have fob key access only and light fixtures which is definitely not in harmony of how a real longhouse and sweatlodge functions. True Ceremonies provide safety and decision making among Community with all voices of the Grassroots Peoples heard. The safety issues include the locks on the structures, which have dangerous emotionally, physical, mental and spiritual impacts for intergeneral survivors of Residential Schools and 60's Scoop genocides.
To add insult to injury, the fake sweatlodge is on NCFST'S rooftop, so when individuals exit the structure, Toronto Police Headquarters is right in their view- no healing can occur with the neo-colonial, genocidal and violent acts of blatant mockery and false teachings out and around the two fake structures.
The sacrilegious structures are a mockery of sacred Traditional Native Cultural Ways, which have existed since Time Immemorial.
The structures were exorbitantly paid for without the proper consultation with members of the Native Community. A non-Native company called Levitt Goodman Architects, (now LGA Architectural Partners), built the two structures, whereas real longhouses and sweat lodges are supposed to be made in prayer by Grassroots Peoples with natural materials- and are to be standing on the lands. "There is so much more that needs to be mentioned about the marginalization of Indigenous women in teachings and ceremonies, and yes it is the effects of colonial-patriarchal indoctrination."
Reconciliation cannot occur when NCFST has a disregard of respecting Native Peoples Self-Determination Rights to ceremony with Non-Interference.
It is incumbent upon Native Child and Family Services of Toronto's Executive Team and Board of Directors to immediately address the violent violations against sacred Native Cultural Ceremonial Practices and publicly issue a Statement that the two structures will be taken down.
