Alisdair Loughman started this petition to National transport Authorities Ireland

To whom it may concern,

I am writing to you today to express my concern to the lack of public transport being offered to Athy Co Kildare.

Unfortunately over the past few years public transport has deteriorated throughout each service eg trains and buses.

Go ahead now is operating multiple days service too and from Dublin via Naas

Irish rail is connecting athy with Dublin and Waterford via Kildare and kilkenny

Local link athy to Newbridge via Kildare

As you maybe aware athy is one of the largest town in the constituency of Kildare south but yet on a Saturday a trains  to Carlow

11.00
18.25
19:22

This leaves a 7 hour gap between services, which is totally unacceptable for people commuting to Carlow and back.

Kildare town which is only 15 minutes away from athy receives a bus on the hour every hour 24/7 via Dublin coach

I know that we are currently in a pandemic with COVID 19 but even still athy is missing the necessary links between athy Carlow and Portlaoise.

Traffic issues:

Prior to this email over the past few years I’ve sent numerous emails and ive noticed that each reply mentions the word traffic and congestion within athy.

Athy needs more services connecting us to the rest of Ireland.

Ideas:

Dublin coach has a bus going from Dublin to Kilkenny which goes by athy via the m9 why can’t we have a bus linking us with m9 and making a stop at the exit which increases more access Ireland via Waterford and cork

A local link connecting athy to Portlaoise via Stradbally.

More public signage of local link to Carlow via castledermot

I hope this email can make some sense of what I’m asking but it’s not just me that wants this it’s a lot people in athy who think athy is a forgotten town within Co Kildare
