Due to Covid-19, we’ve all been told not to travel unless absolutely necessary yet Southeastern are refusing to suspend Annual Season tickets. I, like thousands of others are paying thousand of pounds per year, for a service I am unable to use and who knows how many months this will go on for. Southeastern are offering to process refunds, but there’s a catch! The refund is NOT pro-rata’d to entitle the customer a full refund on the unused portion of their ticket, it’s based on an Annual Season ticket costing 76% of what it would cost if you bought a weekly ticket. In layman’s terms, Southeastern are keeping the equivalent of 12 weeks worth of the cost of all annual season tickets, when issuing refunds. For me that’s around £600, for others it will be much higher. Money we still have to pay back to an employer if using a loan or possibly a credit card company. Their website even boasts “You won’t get a complete refund for the period of time left on your ticket”. Southeastern should suspend all annual season tickets which are currently not being used and extend their expiry dates by the equivalent time lapsed until people are told they should travel again
