Give Joe and Jay a Shot on Wicked Tuna

Give Joe and Jay a Shot on Wicked Tuna
The Issue
Joe Marciano and Jay Muenzner, cousins, have appeared regularly on National Geographic's "Wicked Tuna" since the show debuted in 2012. As the seasons continued, the audience has enjoyed watching Joe and Jay learn to fish Bluefin Tuna from Captain Dave Marciano. We looked forward to hearing Jay react, "It's a screamah!" whenever they hooked up. Their celebration of Joe's birthday with a food fight is a great example of their fan appeal. Every family in America has a pair of cousins like that. We, as an audience, identify with them.
The "boys" have now become men. Joe is the Captain of the Hard Merchandise, and Jay is his first mate. While they have matured, they have not exactly "grown up". They still joke like cousins do, but regularly out-fish more experienced anglers. Their on-board chemistry comes not only from their blood, it comes from years of fishing together as a team. And, despite the fact that they have continually finished at the bottom of the pack, both in "Wicked Tuna" and "Wicked Tuna Outer Banks", the Marciano family (Dave, Nancy, nephew Jay, daughter Angelica, son Joe and daughter Eva) is, by anyone's measurement, the fan favorite. They are the heartbeat of the show. We connect with them because they're honest. They're real. They're Ozzie and Harriett meet Burns and Allen meet Gomez and Morticia.
The show "Wicked Tuna" is more than a friendly competition among a handful of fishing boats, it's as much a national pastime as baseball or football. We have the teams we love, and we have the teams we hate, or, more accurately, the teams we love to hate. While we respect the producers prerogative to introduce new boats into the fleet, we would also ask that the producers respect the audience's prerogative to offer a suggestion.
We, the undersigned, request that Pilgrim Productions, producer of this wicked awesome series, and National Geographic Channel, broadcasters of simply amazing television, provide Joe Marciano and Jay Muenzner an opportunity to "audition" for the upcoming season of "Wicked Tuna". We, as fans loyal to the show and the network, would genuinely enjoy the potential rivalries that may evolve from this dynamic, and would look forward to many, many more seasons of this show.
