Stop Torture of Baby Animals in Canada

Stop Torture of Baby Animals in Canada
The Issue
Imagine being locked up alone in a barren cage with nothing to sleep on but cold concrete, deliberately starved of essential nutrients, and wasting away in misery and solitary confinement.
Unfortunately, as our undercover investigation shows, this isn’t just a punishment reserved for the most violent and hardened criminals. It is the cruel fate of millions of innocent baby animals who have committed no crime, and have done nothing to deserve such barbaric treatment. It is the fate of calves at the hands of the veal industry. Sadly, it is also what Canada’s National Farm Animal Care Council (NFACC) indicates should still be allowed in its newly proposed code for the care and handling of calves in the veal industry. But it doesn’t have to be this way.
Now is the time to act! Make your voice heard by speaking out against this horrific animal abuse. Please take action today and tell NFACC that forcing baby animals to endure treatment designed for hardened criminals is simply unacceptable.
Mercy For Animals will submit detailed comments in opposition to the newly proposed veal code of practice. But NFACC needs to hear from as many Canadian citizens as possible that these cruel and outdated practices will not be tolerated.
Please sign our petition calling for NFACC to amend the proposed code to include the following requirements to end the needless suffering of millions of animals:
- Solitary confinement of calves must be prohibited and at a minimum calves should be housed in pairs.
- Calves must be fed a healthy diet to ensure proper development and prevent anemia.
- Calves must be provided with proper bedding and barren concrete flooring must be prohibited.
It’s high time for NFACC to adopt meaningful standards to end the worst forms of factory farm cruelty.
Please sign the petition now and then share it on social media to protect Canada’s calves from terrible abuse! Your signature will be submitted along with thousands of others in MFA’s official response. Together, we can show NFACC that Canadians oppose these horrific practices.
Thank you.
