I'm making this petition on the basis that there maybe someone that may listen to this. Animal cruelty is a problem in any society. People have become mindful in the past couple years with conservation efforts and sustainable fishing. While we progress as a society forward for better treatment of animals. What i've seen is a blatant act of cruelty towards animals. Betta fish are sold at many if not all Petsmart of Petco stores. There is multiple reasons concerning why this is unethical for one the storage for these fish is not optimal. These fish are stored and left in similar to plastic soup bowl containers. Maintaining nitrogen and ph levels since the water isn't being filtered. Just like any other living creature you need an optimal amount of space to thrive. Now with this being said these businesses would be quick to say their employees change water and feed regularly. Which doesn't take into the account of the other problems. Which ironically if you check both Petsmart and Petco websites will give you the actual care for what Betta fish require. I'm asking for reform for selling these animals regardless if they are fish they're still alive they deserve respect same as any other pet. Either these businesses need to improve their life quality or STOP selling them.
