National Animal Abuser Database
National Animal Abuser Database
The Issue
It hurts my heart when I see animals abused. As an empath, it's like it's happening to me. I can't take watching these poor defenseless animals suffer at the hands of those who are supposed to care for them. These monsters, who inflict such unimaginable pain and suffering on innocent creatures, should never have the chance to do it again.
In Delaware County, Pennsylvania, and across the United States, we have seen numerous cases where individuals convicted of animal abuse have found ways to obtain more animals, sometimes even from different states, due to the absence of a centralized database. Without a comprehensive national database of animal abusers, shelters and adoption agencies may unknowingly place animals in harm's way.
According to the FBI and numerous studies, there is a well-documented link between animal abuse and violence towards humans, indicating that preventing animal abuse not only protects animals but can also contribute to community safety. Implementing a national database where shelters and adoption agencies can access complete information about individuals convicted of animal abuse would be a significant step forward in protecting animals from further harm.
A national animal abuser registry would enable shelters to check for past offenses and ensure animals are placed in safe, loving homes. This is a crucial measure to prevent further cruelty and suffering. Moreover, such a database can act as a deterrent to potential abusers, knowing that their actions could permanently bar them from having the opportunity to mistreat animals again.
We urge lawmakers, both in Delaware County and at the federal level, to prioritize the creation of this public animal abuse registry. This initiative is not just about protecting animals, but about taking a firm stand against cruelty and ensuring that no animal suffers the terror and pain of abuse again.
Please sign this petition to demand a national database of animal abusers. Together, we can make a difference and ensure a safer future for our beloved animals.
