The petition - demanding National Action Against Police Brutality and Murder had been CLOSED effective January 1st of 2017! It has now been re-opened and I will need each of you have signed it to keep it OPEN and fight all attempts to shut it down! From the beginning this petition has faced tremendous challenges in moving ahead and gaining signatures to the bewilderment of all concerned. What they didn't know is that our numbers FAR EXCEEDED what was actually being totaled and counted and that attempts to communicate the issue all failed and we pushed forward in spite of it all. Even now, our total count reads 42,931 signatures yet in others locations on the petitions dashboard it states 43,000 are the signatures obtained. That is one among many mis-calculations which were noted throughout the duration of the petition and in spite of all of it, the demand and those who were pushing it were determined to resist all efforts against it and proceed forward! For the need was so great - we believed the need would overshadow all attempts to fight against it! Well, "the need remains great" if not even greater and instead of "a movement, backed and financed by the people", we have remained at "ground zero" asking for signatures and support. In the year 2017, we cannot afford to operate in this fashion expecting different results. In fact, with a new administration in government whose "pick" to head the Department Of Justice has been declared a "known racist" by officials within government, consider the fight which must be waged in ADVANCE of submitting the petition? For if a KNOWN RACIST is at the helm of the Department of Justice "unprecedented actions" must be taken above and beyond the collecting of signatures, rally's and protests. Those actions require people as well as finances to carry them out. No "movement" can be carried forth without the finances to sustain it and the viability of any movement depends upon it. Those are the facts whether we agree or not. But I cannot ask in good conscience that people "donate towards a demand" when those who have signed it are not "pushing it forward" or helping their own efforts by donating. And regardless to my ability to communicate the issues and demonstrate the need for accountability, neither efforts nor communication will be seen or heard beyond "social media" without the finances needed. And those are the facts - presented here to you, so we are "all on the same page" as far as where our petition is and why. The support and appreciation given to me in carrying this demand forth, has been greatly appreciated and taken indeed in earnest. But if what is needed is not supplied how shall we move forward?
