Just recently The Department of Justice Civil Rights division, took over the federal investigation which was already underway, by New York City federal prosecutors and FBI division - concerning the murder of Eric Garner! People are applauding and some are confused believing charges have already been made. NO CHARGES have been made at this time. Below, I've created a video in my attempt to explain what occurred and why. For this recent event has many confused. What occurred recently, which is being reported in the media is the "take over" of the federal investigation into the murder of ERIC GARNER by the Civil Rights division of the DOJ! The federal investigation which was already in progress and long over due - appeared to be delayed because Federal investigators and officials at the New York City FBI division, were disputing with the Department of Justice on whether or not "sufficient evidence" existed in order to bring about charges! New York City Federal investigators claimed "insufficient evidence" prevented them from bringing forth charges. But the Department of Justice declared "sufficient evidence" was indeed available! So in a "highly unusual move" the department of justice REMOVED those federal investigators from off the case! The Department of Justice has now assigned members from the Civil Rights division of the Department of Justice to handle the case and these individuals will be presenting evidence to a grand jury! It is believed that charges will most certainly be brought forth - because it is the Department of Justice who insisted "sufficient evidence" is available in order to bring charges! And now that they themselves have "taken over the case" and are presenting that evidence to a grand jury, it is expected indeed that INDICTMENTS will follow. Nobody knows "what the charges shall be" but based on the actions of the Department of Justice it is certain that "charges" shall be forth coming.
