A weekend with family at Estero Island Beach Club, Fort Myers, Florida.

Hello friends and family- It has been over a week since my last update. Kayne is now in week 3 of his radiation treatments and he seems to be handling everything okay. This past week Kayne had radiation every day, except for Tuesday, July 4. He spent Monday the 3rd hanging out with Jake and pulled a late night since he was off for the 4th. Kayne and Kirsten both chose to sleep in and spend the day lounging around for the 4th. Kayne’s radiation treatment was at 6:30 a.m. on Friday to accommodate his travel to Fort Myers, Florida. This is an annual trip every July to visit the extended family. This year we had 46 including us there for the family photograph. Kayne and Kirsten flew into Fort Myers airport and I picked them up at 2 p.m. and by 3 p.m. we were checked into our room for the night. After picking Kayne up, he received a call from F. King Alexander, the president of LSU letting him personally know they were working on a scholarship to help offset the remaining costs. We continue to be amazed by the friendliness and personal touch from LSU and the community of Baton Rouge. We went to dinner with Kirsten’s Uncle Bill and Aunt Darlene Bassett. Aunt Darlene is Kirsten’s mom’s sister to help give you the relationship. Cousin Laura Bassett and the twins, Aubrey and Alexandra joined us for dinner. On Saturday at 3 p.m. we checked into the main condo for the week. Most of the family members had arrived by 5pm to include Kirsten’s dad and Stepmom (Bill & Lila Ransom). Keagan also arrived separately because he had a swim meet Friday and Saturday. On Sunday, it was a full day. The cousins were all hanging out together and making memories. We had photographs done of the entire family by a professional photographer also. We look forward to getting the pictures back so we can share with everyone. We took photos of each family and then a large family group photo. Thanks to the photographer as she stood in the hot sun and humid weather for over two hours taking the pictures of everyone. Sunday night Kayne & Keagan walked to the pier after dinner with all the cousins for ice cream. They hung out and laughed like they usually do when they are all together. This was a special memory making moment for the kids. It was very special to everyone, especially Kayne. Kayne had to return Monday and could not stay the rest of the week with the family, due to radiation treatments. He almost canceled the trip, but he was glad he didn’t after spending the three days with the family. I dropped Kirsten and Kayne back off at the airport Monday for their 8 a.m. flight and they made it back to Cincinnati around lunch time. Kayne was feeling good and decided to go see Spiderman, the movie before radiation. We are blessed Kayne is feeling well and we pray for God to touch him and heal his body. Kayne is looking forward to Wednesday because he is supposed to transition from the Decadron steroid to the hydrocortisone. Doctors hope they prescribed him a high enough dose of hydrocortisone to keep him from losing all his energy. We have a few fundraisers taking place this week. One at Beef O’ Brady’s in Union, Ky on Wednesday night and this week the NKSL (Northern Kentucky Swim League) is honoring Kayne and raising funds for the Cannonballs For Kayne Foundation.
