Home from Alaska!

Good evening friends and family, We are back from a wonderful trip to Alaska thanks to Make-A-Wish Foundation. We really do appreciate the time they spent preparing our trip for us. I have added them to our list of charities we support. They do an amazing job. We flew into Anchorage on Tuesday, June 6th. We had dinner at the local favorite pizzeria, The Moose’s Tooth. Great pizza. On Wednesday, we headed to Girdwood and had our helicopter tour. This was our favorite! We landed on a glacier and we drank the fresh, cold water. After our helicopter ride, we headed to Hope, Alaska to our Bed N Breakfast. This was a quaint small town, very serene and isolated. The boys didn’t like not having data or internet, but it was a great. We played cards, built a fire in the pit and ate at all three dining spots. The town was small, but we had great coffee at Turnagain Kayak, breakfast at the Discovery Café and dinner at the Seaside Café. This is where we saw a moose on the side of the road. Friday, we headed to Seward for the rest of our excursions. We did a sea boat tour on Saturday, Fishing on the Kanai River Sunday and finished up with a tour of the Iditarod dogs on Monday. What’s next? Well, we left Seattle heading in two different directions. Kirsten and Kayne headed to Cincinnati in preparation for radiation on his new tumors. Keagan and I headed home to take care of things. We head to LSU on Sunday through Thursday for student/parent orientation. Kayne will meet the swim coach also. All of us will return home to Florida on Thursday. Kayne and Kirsten will head back to Cincinnati on Sunday June 25th. His radiation begins on Monday, June 26th. We will be praying for this radiation to stop and shrink the new tumors as well as asking God for the original tumor in the pons to remain stable. We pray every day for Kayne to be completely healed, but like Kayne told me not everyone can get a miracle from God. And so, Kayne prays for complete healing, but he also said he prays for God to not let him suffer. Kayne wanted to remodel his bedroom so he used his graduation money to buy some new furniture. He bought a new high tech desk that raises and lowers so he can sit or stand while using it. He bought a new black dresser to match his bed and he also bought a chaise lounge chair. I am in the process of putting most of it together so he can enjoy it when he gets home. Radiation will last until the first part of August so we will be in Cincinnati most of that time. We pray Kayne will feel well so he can visit and hang out with friends while he is there. We appreciate the love, support and prayers from everyone.
