Good evening family and friends. It has been a great weekend. Kayne and his Spruce Creek classmates graduated yesterday. The principal, Dr. Sparger even recognized Kayne during his speech. He was showing a slide show and mentioned #cannonballsforkayne had gone viral. Kayne stood up, waving to the crowd as Dr. Sparger wished him the best at LSU in the fall. After graduation, it was time for Kayne's graduation party. The big event finally arrived with family and friends coming to the house to wish Kayne congratulations. There are too many people to mention all who stopped by, but let's just say there were quite a few guests. There are a couple of special gifts he got which I wish to share. Cousin Dawn Dixon made him an art piece with the shark teeth she finds at Jacksonville beach. She just keeps on showing off her talent. And cousins Peter, Tanji, Colby, Parker Coats got Kayne an LSU Jersey with the number 21 on it for his graduation year at LSU. We were blessed Kayne has felt good all week and he was able to partake in the graduation activities. It was a busy week. We had a special banquet for athletes on Monday night where Kayne was awarded the Courage Award by the Daytona Beach News Journals Best of the Best, Prep All-Stars. The News Journal showed a video put together of Kayne and as he walked across the stage he got a huge standing ovation. He deserves it because it does take courage to move forward with such a diagnosis. He got to meet the special guest, quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons, Matt Ryan. Tuesday, Kayne spoke at the special Baccalaureate service for the seniors. It was a nice evening listening to the Spruce Creek Choir and Band members. Wednesday, Kayne had clinic and physical therapy in Gainesville at Shand's Children's Hospital. Thursday, was Senior Awards... He was awarded two $500.00 scholarships for school he had submitted applications and essays for. The surprise of the evening....He was named to the Spruce Creek Hall of Fame. It was special and his picture will hang in the hall at school. None of us knew about that surprise. A bit of bad luck during the awards banquet. My back was hurting so I went to stretch in the lobby and my wallet must have fallen out of my front pocket. It is gone! I went back there first thing Friday morning, but had no luck. Keep us in prayers that a nice Christian will mail it back to us. Since Christmas I scanned through over 35,000 photos to put together Kayne's slide show for his graduation party. ( I know, I am bad about deleting the extras) It was from the time Kayne was born though the event where he spoke in Frankfort. Although, it took me months to finally name and edit the 1000 pictures I chose for his video, I enjoyed reminiscing as I worked on the project. Today was no exception to the week. Kayne went to a friends graduation and then two other graduation parties. He better get his sleep tonight as we leave early in the morning. Back to reality, we fly to Cincinnati in the morning and Kayne's MRI and clinic starts Tuesday morning at 7:30am. Please pray specifically for the watch spots to be nothing more than radiation and not any type of new disease. I will have an update mid week to let you know about the MRI. Kayne's Make A Wish trip got scheduled. We are going to Alaska!! A little quicker than we thought. We leave June 6, 2017. In the very beginning they said they could do the trip next year... That was sped up once the doctors and counselors informed them of his disease. We are happy they worked so quickly for us. Have a great week everyone! Much love to you all and goodnight I can be reached at curtis.finley@gmail.com or message me on Facebook. www.cannonballsforkayne.org
