Hello friends and family-
Since my last update, Kayne finished his first cycle and had one week off the medicine to allow his immune system to recover.
We had a slight delay getting the second cycle of medicine. Kayne's blood levels were still a little low so he couldn't get the medicine last Monday. That changed the week for us. Kirsten and Kayne were supposed to fly home on an Angel Flight on Wednesday, but instead Kayne had his blood work rechecked on Wednesday. Interestingly enough, no pilots had picked up the flight as of Monday.
Kayne's blood levels were normal on Wednesday. On Thursday he had physical therapy and echocardiogram. Kirsten booked a flight for them to fly home Friday. They had their last dinner of the trip with her Dad & Lila.
On Friday, I picked Kirsten and Kayne up at the Orlando airport and we drove over to her cousin Kyle's 50th birthday party in Tampa. We were all happy, but Kayne was extremely happy it worked out to attend the party and see everyone.
We got home from Tampa late Saturday afternoon and Kayne was thrilled to have his room and bed back. Think about it, he has spent the last month with Kirsten and I in the same room with him at the Ronald McDonald House.
Today, Kayne went to his high school to meet up with his on-line teacher. He was able to see many of the teachers to include Coach Swayze, his volleyball coach. She didn't realize he was coming in today and it truly surprised her. Happy of course!
Kayne went to swim practice after school. He warmed up with a 200 and then worked out doing 50's.
Tomorrow I am taking Kayne to get his passport photo so we can get his updated. We plan to do a family trip to visit Normandy. We had put it off for a few years, now we are just going to figure it out.
On Wednesday, we drive back to Gainesville for clinic with Dr. G and the weekly blood draw.. Kayne's favorite!
We thank everyone for their support and prayers. We can't do it all without you! Keep the prayers strong as this medicine is not a cure, but a hope to prolong life. We are praying for the tumor to dissolve completely so it can't start growing again!
Love to you All!
Curtis
