Kayne's Senior Prom

Hello friends and family- Let me start off by letting you know it has been, "Great" being home with the family. The weather here in Florida has been fabulous since we returned home from Cincinnati. Kirsten and I each have things we work on every day.. Things that are in the background and it has been extremely special to have some meals prepared by friends allowing a few evenings to just be with Kayne at dinner. Since my last update, Kayne has gone to swim practice a few times, attended his Senior Prom as well as a couple of school visits. Prom was Saturday, April 1st and it was a beautiful, sunny day here in the Daytona Beach area. Kayne had a few friends stop by before he got ready. Kirsten and I drove him to meet up with friends, before meeting up with all of them for pictures. Kirsten put some of photos on Kayne's Facebook page. (By the way, if you haven't liked his page yet, will you please check it out) While Kayne was at the prom with his friends, Kirsten and I went out for dinner. Just the two of us! We had dinner at the "Garlic", which was a recommendation from our friend Lisa Bradley. It was very good. Monday, April 3, 2017 was a special day for us. It was this day in 2012 we were on a cruise and renewed our vows. Some of you may not know all the details of our special cruise. It was our first cruise, but it was more about us being back together. Yes, back together! We had a bunch of downs and outs after I returned from Iraq in 2007 and we ended up separating in 2010 and actually divorced in February 2011. By August of 2011, my father died and we started dating again and got back together. We had the divorce annulled in December 2011 with plans to renew our vows. We renewed our vows with the boys by our side. It is great being together with the one you love. The one key ingredient to reconciling was "Forgiveness" We knew we had to forgive, or it would always drag us down. Things are not always perfect, but the past is never part of our conversation. Kayne stayed out late with his friends. Kirsten picked him up around 2am and he got in bed around 3am. He is usually in bed by 10pm, so he was wiped out on Sunday. He slept most of the day away. It was good to see him back in swing by Monday evening. I took Kayne to school today to visit a few classes and to play volleyball with his class. He had an Orthodontist appointment mid-morning. Tomorrow is clinic and physical therapy for Kayne. I will be going in a different direction for a dermatology appointment. Kayne is going to a classmates funeral tomorrow evening. The young man was a senior with Kayne and he died in a motorcycle crash Friday night before prom. There have been a lot of tragedy as of late. We are keeping all of the families in our prayers. We will be in Boston this weekend to attend a Swim Across America Event. Good news from the coordinator at Swim Across America; she's scheduled Kayne to give a welcome address before the event and he is going to be their guest "starter". It's going to be a fantastic event with over 250 athletes of all ages already registered for the event Sunday, April 9 and plenty of room for more at Harvard University's Blodgett Pool in Cambridge, MA.
