Greetings friends and family-
Kayne has had a good week, with only two more days of his chemo drug until he takes a 7 day break. The break for 7 days is to allow his bone marrow recover. He will still have clinic to have his blood levels checked on Monday.
Kayne has been doing his physical therapy exercises and stretching daily. He sees the physical therapist two times a week in outpatient.
Kayne was selected by his elementary school, Erpenbeck as the Hero Ambassador for Alex's Lemonade Stand. On Wednesday, he spoke to the 3rd graders. The kids were happy to see their 6'4" hero. The students now go to work planning their own lemonade stand business. It will be a community event at Erpenbeck Elementary in Union, Ky on March 31, 2017 from 4:30 to 7:30pm. The proceeds from their business will go to raise funds for childhood cancer.
Kayne also spoke to the Fashion Marketing class at Ryle High School on Thursday and their class is having a Fashion Show at Ryle on March 17 from 1 to 3 pm.
Governor Matt Bevin of Kentucky made a video about Kayne and his DIPG (Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma) brain tumor cancer to help spread awareness of this rare disease and highlight Kayne's Cannonballs for Kayne Foundation.
Things are definitely busy behind the scenes. Kirsten handles the operations of Kayne's foundation, cannonballsforkayne.org. There are psychologists, social workers, school social workers and more on the care team in addition to the doctors and nurses to work with on different tasks to help our family as we endure this challenging journey. She handles the paperwork and phone calls weekly. There are definitely things happening with Keagan at FSU and getting Kayne ready to go to LSU. I get the easy update once a week. I keep track of the calendar and document important things daily in case we need to reference it later. You know, I do the muscle stuff.. Laundry, driving, errands and so on.
Kirsten and I are planning the next few months. This is going to be the summer of adventure for us all. New memories together! A few things we had planned later are being planned for this summer.
When the future is uncertain, you just do it!
