Enforce traffic safety compliance in Great Neck!

Enforce traffic safety compliance in Great Neck!
The Issue
Traffic regulations are not being enforced in Great Neck.
Pedestrians in Great Neck are being endangered by reckless drivers who do not observe traffic signals or speed limits. In addition, bicycles and scooters create a safety hazard by riding on sidewalks. To make matters worse, some pedestrians contribute to the problem by jaywalking and ignoring basic New York pedestrian law.
In a traffic study conducted in 2019, Nassau County Department of Public Works officials found that intersections off of Middle Neck Road see more crashes per million vehicles than the statewide average.
The intersection of South Station Plaza and Great Neck Road saw 123 crashes from 2015-2019, exceeding the statewide rate of 2.42 crashes per million entering vehicles, according to the study.
During the period from 2009-2016 (most recent data available), there were four fatal accidents on Middle Neck Road. How many more people need to die before something is done? Residents need regular police patrols to ensure pedestrian safety!
We implore the Nassau County Police Department 6th Precinct to implement regular traffic patrols in Great Neck and keep our residents safe!
