Nashville Vs Transit

The Issue

Nashville, despite being the largest city in Tennessee and one of the fastest growing in the US, doesn't have a long term public transit plan. And to make matters worse, WeGo Transit sees less than 1 million riders daily. Making Nashville one of the most car heavy cities in the US. Sure, the mayor is proposing "Choose How You Move", but that's for sidewalks and traffic, not transit. I'm from NY, but have a TN plan. The ideal strategy:

  1. Secure funding from the city council and state.
  2. Reroute WeGo Star service from Riverfront to Union Station via the Vine Hill and Nashville Terminal subdivisions.
  3. Double Track the WeGo Star route from Lebanon to Nashville
  4. Expand WeGo Star service to Springfield TN on the Henderson Subdivision and Franklin TN on the CSX Nashville Subdivision.
  5. Imply the BRT and LRT lines from Let's move Nashville(First stage would be Red from Airport to Union Station). Reference to LMN: The OG LMN plan costed $5.2B, with inflation, this may cost over $20 Billion, but with the right funding and planning, this should be possible by 2035.
