Change the Predators powerplay song to something that actually hypes the audience
The song played for the powerplay so far this season has been the Dierks Bentley song "5150". This is a song about loving a girl with the following lyrics:
- "5-1-5-0, somebody call the po-po
I’m goin’ crazy, thinkin’ ‘bout you baby
5-1-5-0, just this side of loco
I’m goin’ crazy, think I love you baby"
Not only are these lyrics not applicable to the powerplay situation (who is "baby"? who do we love?) but the pace and tone of the music fails to draw any sort of reaction from the audience as shown by the complete silence during the playing of this song throughout the preseason and 3 regular-season games played thus far. If we look back at the previous powerplay song "Party Up (Up in Here)" by DMX, we find lyrics as follows:
- Y'all gon' make me lose my mind
Up in here, up in here
Y'all gon' make me go all out
Up in here, up in here
Y'all gon' make me act a FOOL
Up in here, up in here
Y'all gon' make me lose my cool
Up in here, up in here
These lyrics imply that the team is about to really step up and get something done. In addition to these lyrics, the song was high energy and always succeeded in getting the crowd amped up.
We need to move away from the slow-paced love song performed by a Blackhawks-loving artist* and move to something that is high energy and will serve the purpose of getting the crowd and players hyped up and ready to dominate during the man-advantage.
* Google "Dierks Bentley Blackhawks" and see what I'm referring to. I assume he jumped over to the Predators after pissing off the Chicago fanbase when he hoisted up Lord Stanley.
