Onboard NASA's first launch of the Space Launch System (SLS) is to be 3 manikins, two of which are already named but the 3rd is set to be named based on 8 preselected names.

This petition is to submit the name "Jeb" or "Jebediah" as the manikin's name. Jebediah being one of the primary characters from the video game, Kerbal Space Program & iconic for his voyages through space.

This petition also stands to emulate how in 1976 Star Trek fans across the United States petitioned NASA to rename the first Space Shuttle test vehicle then named Consitution, to Enterprise. NASA heard this petition & renamed the vehicle to its current name of Enterprise. This petition seeks to repeat that by naming the third manikin 'Jeb' or 'Jebediah'.

The ties to the Kerbal Space Program franchise is not unwarranted as on April 1st 2014, there was a specific update that included then accurate parts to replicate the SLS vehicle & there are further ties as former President Obama specifically called out Kerbal Space Program as part of the 2015 Astronomy Night (link: https://obamawhitehouse.archives.gov/the-press-office/2015/10/19/fact-sheet-white-house-astronomy-night-president-obama-announces-new ) & the franchise has routinely been the focus of many aerospace education platforms including its spinoff, KerbalEdu which is used by schools to teach basic physics & aerodynamic principles.
