Build Metro from Silk Board to Tin Factory on ORR, Bengaluru in phase 2

Build Metro from Silk Board to Tin Factory on ORR, Bengaluru in phase 2
The Issue
There are more IT organizations on the Outer Ring Road(ORR) in Bengaluru than in any other part. Many people face the daily traffic hurdle to reach offices from south Bengaluru(BTM, JP Nagar, Jayanagar, Banashankari). Over the past year, lot more vehicles have hit the roads, which means more traffic through out the ORR(Bellandur, Iblur, Ecospace, Marathalli, Doddanekundi) and it is only going to get worse. Less than an year back, it used to take 45 minutes to reach silk board from Doddanekundi at 5 PM traffic. Fast forward to today, it takes not less than 1 hour 15 minutes, for just 17 kms travel.
A metro line on the ORR will ease the traffic significantly as it will make people using BMTC/Car/Bike/Taxis/OfficeCabs currently to use metro services, because of the frequency and time-proof travel. This line will have more takers than any other lines which is currently operational/proposed. This will not only help south Bengalureans, but also the people staying in and around Whitefield area to reach Electronic city,as there's a proposal to run Metro from Silk-board to Electronic city.
This line, along with the all the other proposed lines in phase 2 can help commuters as follows:
- From Banashankari to ORR - Direct train along Banashankari-JayadevaHospital-BTM-Silkboard-HSR-Iblur-Belandur-Marathalli-Doddanekundi-Mahadevapura-TinFactory.
- From Banashankari to ITPL - Switch trains at Mahadevapura/Narayanapura and board trains coming from Baiyappanahalli towards ITPL. This route covers Garudacharpalya-Graphite-Vydehi-SatyaSaiHospital-ITPL-Kadugodi.
- From ORR to ElectronicsCity - Switch trains at Silkboard and board trains coming from Banashankari towards ElectronicsCity.
- From ITPL to ElectronicsCity - Switch trains at Mahadevapura/Narayanapura and board trains towards SilkBoard. Again, switch trains at SilkBoard and board trains coming from Banashankari towards ElectronicsCity.
- From Nagawara to ORR/ITPL - People staying near Hebbala/Nagawara, can reach M.G.Road metro and switch to trains towards ITPL. For ORR, again switch trains at Mahadevapura/Narayanapura and board trains towards SilkBoard.
Not to forget, with the already proposed phase 2 lines, one can travel from Nagawara to ElectronicsCity, by taking the metro from Nagawara-Jayadeva and by switching to trains coming from Banashankari towards ElectronicsCity. And also, many more commuters on the Hosur Road, Bannerughatta Road, Kanakapura Road, Mysuru Road and Tumakuru Road will be hugely benefited by the phase 2 new lines/extensions.
The government needs to act now and construct metro on the median of ORR in phase 2 itself, failing which, the traffic conditions will reach a point of no return in 1-2 years time. However, currently, there's no proposal to construct the metro on ORR in phase 2. As we know, Metro is funded by both the central and the state governments. Hence, we urge the Prime Minister, Mr.Narendra Modi and the Chief Minister of Karnataka, Mr. Siddaramaiah to allocate funds, act pro-actively in land acquisitions(if any) and start the construction as soon as possible.
