Ban on Fire Crackers all over India - Initiative for Animals

The Issue

Okay so here is the problem with us, we in India have bans on unnecessary things rather than having ban on what is required.

Diwali is a festival of lights, happiness, sweets, love, etc. Being all this, Diwali is also a festival of pollution. Sound, Air and Much more..

With October begins the season of festivals for almost all of India. Celebrations start with Dassera, followed by Diwali, Christmas, New Year and Sankranti. Winter is also the preferred season for weddings with thousands of lively wedding processions occupying streets. Synonymous with these public and private celebrations is the bursting of firecrackers, often bought in large quantities and exhausted within a few hours.

In India, we burn more than 40 recognised and other dangerous forms of firecrackers, one louder than the other and all of them releasing toxic fumes into the dense winter air. The situation worsens with vehicular pollution and smoke from open burning. Calm and cool weather blocks the dispersal of smoke and pollutants, giving rise to stubborn and toxic smog.

Smog contains fine particulates and a lethal cocktail of poisonous gases like nitrogen dioxide, carbon monoxide, ozone, and benzene. As the season progresses, doctors report increased instances of chronic respiratory symptoms; increase in emergency room visits for asthma, chronic obstructive lung disease, and acute coronary events. Children, the elderly and those with respiratory problems are the worst affected.

Just like we humans, even the animals have equal rights to stay on planet earth.
Why are.we killing them with these crackers.

The noise makes the birds fly from their shelters in the night and many land in an alien place, resulting in serious injuries to them," said Darshan Desai of Prayas, an NGO which works for the protection of birds, animals and plant life.

The numbers of rescue calls received by NGOs has increased significantly in the last few days. The numbers have increased from 35 a day to around 50 and could touch the mark of 75 in next three days when the city celebrates Diwali by bursting lots of crackers. According to an estimate, every year at least 350 animals and birds suffer from disorientation by the time Diwali is over.

"The noise of the cracker scares a young bird or a puppy so much that it gets disoriented, at times it temporarily loses its hearing sense. Once disoriented it starts running or flying around aimlessly," said Rajesh Patel, an animal lover from Vesu area.

"Many puppies get crushed under the wheels of the cars on the night of Diwali when they try to escape from the noise of the firecrackers," he added.

So it's my request to the Indian Government to Ban the use of crackers completely in India with a rule that if anyone makes the use of crackers would have to pay a heavy fine and/or an imprisonment UpTo 6months to 1Year
