There is no dispute or conflict in anyone's mind that "Voting is the right of every citizen and also a duty" ! Low or NO voting also typically results in the actual people's Voice not being heard since representation of the masses is missing!

However, it is a ground reality, and an unfortunate fact, that the working classes in all Metros are always waiting, and under pressure, from their families, and peer groups, to take long weekends off and go the nearest hill station or holiday destination "for a break" ! Hence, whenever an Election day has been announced for a Monday, or a Friday, the "working populace" takes the weekend off, and skips voting, thinking, at a micro level, as to what difference their few votes can ever make! 

While the better alternative would be to provide an Off only in the 1st half of the day, to staff, for voting (and not the full day, as at present), another viable alternative is that the Election Commission keeps Election Days in Metros ideally on Wednesdays only !! [NOTE: It's possible that the EC might be combining the weekends with Election Days so as to give them enough cushion to make elaborate arrangements for the Election but , for the overall national cause, Wednesday makes better and more Eminent sense]

VIDE THIS CHANGE PETITION the intention is to strongly request the EC to henceforth keep the Election Day in Metros ideally on Wednesdays - unless that happens to be in line with any other Public Holiday - in which case, it should be with a day's gap, but after avoiding any weekend !
