Make the USPS solvent without making the taxpayers or government pay for it.

The Issue

USPS SOLVENCY ISSUE All businesses that offer paperless billing, and an online site to pay your bill should be required to pay the USPS for each and every customer that uses the paperless option. Just the price of a stamp multiplied by millions of customers will support the post office and won't cost taxpayers at all. The businesses that have moved on to paperless billing are saving millions on postage, and have been since paperless billing has been implemented. If that money (the cost of a stamp) is sent to the USPS daily, weekly, or monthly, they should be able to stay afloat! Computers are what broke the post office' ability to break even. They are also saving millions on the paper for the billing statements, the time it takes someone to do the bulk mailing of millions of statements, the wages of whoever opens those envelopes and makes the necessary data entries when people pay those bills. Companies should be the ones supporting this for their post office. Either that, or outlaw paperless billing and online payments.
