On October 18, 2021, my son, Ocean Washington, tragically lost his life to gun violence at Mission Manor Park. Ocean was a lively and vibrant young man who had a profound impact on everyone who knew him. His energy was contagious, and he always strived to make a positive difference in his community. Since his untimely passing, our family and community have been seeking ways to honor his memory and transform our grief into hope for others impacted by similar tragedies.

The new Mission Manor Aquatic Center is a project that promises to be a beacon of joy and connection for families in our community. Naming the center after Ocean would not only commemorate his legacy but also serve as a reminder of the positive changes we can initiate in the face of adversity.
