Empire Day is the holiday The Emperor's Bridge Campaign launched last year to mark the anniversary of Joshua Norton's declaration of himself and his Empire on 17 September 1859. This coming 17 September — which falls on a Saturday — we'll be celebrating in San Francisco with a double-bill of events: a Field Talk at 3 p.m. and a commemoration at 4:30, followed by a toast at Comstock Saloon.
