Remaster Afro Samurai Video Game for next-gen consoles with loads of New Content

The Issue

Back in Early 2009, Namco Bandai Games released “Afro Samurai”, based on the manga and anime of the same name for Xbox 360 & PlayStation 3 under their western label, Surge.

The game released 3 years after the original series debut and at the same time its’ continuation film “Afro Samurai Resurrection” released. The game took about 3 years to complete which the final product showcased the ability and freedom to cut enemies at any direction like a blender resulting in graphic but detailed death animations with aesthetic.

The reception for the game received was a mixed bag to casual gamers but mind-blowing to fans of its source material. The game does have its’ share of bugs, frustrating mechanics, near lack of replay value, and an alternative ending that was executed a lot poorly then what is shown in the original climax. We feel that a remastered director's cut of this game is needed for newcomers to experience. The Xbox 360 version of the game is not even backwards compatible with Xbox One or Series X|S consoles and the PlayStation 3 version is nowhere to be found on PlayStation Now.

If Namco Bandai Games we’re to remaster it with more content and replay value, we want the extras to be more than just bug fixes and higher frames. We want new gameplay mechanics, new chapters that include the resurrection storyline, an original non-canon story with 2D hand-drawn animated cutscenes from Studio Gonzo specifically made for the game, include a separate story mode where you play as Kuma and other characters which will make up for the lost cancelled sequel “Revenge of Kuma”, and a much well-thought alternative ending. The developers should attempt to get as much as the original cast & crew to provide for the games narrative such as Hollywood Star Samuel L. Jackson and Robert Fitzgerald Diggs AKA “The RZA” of the Wu Tang Clan.

Did I forget to mention that the original MSRP price for the original game was $59.99 at launch? The release date price shows how much work was put into the game over the 3 year development span and if this rerelease ever happens it would be worth that price maybe even worth $69.99.
