For the last month or so, clips of Gundam Extreme VS (機動戦士ガンダム エクストリームバーサス) for Playstation 3 have circulated on Youtube as well as multiple gaming sites. These bits of game footage present a fast, kinetic, and downright enjoyable product of the Gundam franchise that is, as of late, only available in Japan. Coupled with news pieces from sites such as Kotaku, which provide a wealth of glowing notes regarding its fast & furious gameplay, extensive suit selection, and superb fan service while cynically affirming in its headling that the game is "Far Too Good To Be Released Outside of Japan", have only bolstered its allure in the eyes of hardcore Gundam fans and general anime enthusiasts who now have to pony up $80 or more for an imported copy.

Bandai has proven to be an effective localizer when it comes to Gundam games over the past decade, with titles such as "Mobile Suit Gundam: Federation vs. Zeon", "Mobile Suit Gundam: Gundam vs. Zeta Gundam", and most recently the "Dynasty Warriors Gundam" trilogy becoming bona fide favorites with gamers in the United States. With the possible U.S. release of Extreme VS, Bandai Namco is sure to have another great game in their hands to share with us all. It's not quite certain why the company is so reluctant to produce a U.S. version of this game, possibly because there are several mobile suits and characters in this title that will be unfamiliar to Americans although, lest we forget, several localized Gundam games have featured characters from programs that have yet to have a proper U.S. release, but that's besides the point. In short, Bandai Namco can win over a large contingent of gamers in the U.S. with the release of this title. There is no dire rush for the finished product to arrive, but we do love to see an English language version of this title resting inside our PS3s in the future.
