July 17th, 2015 marks the day of the morning I woke up to my mother screaming from her room due to the phone call that would change my life forever. I ran to her to find out that my brother, Albert Joseph Davis had been murdered overnight by an Orlando Police Officer by the name of Kelvin Vidro. Kelvin Vidro is a rookie cop who had only been with the department for 1 yr at the time. Police had been called to the apartments where a party was taking place at the complex pool. Reports say that Albert, along with others, ran upon police arrival & somehow he was the one to be tackled before being shot. Others at the scene stated that when police arrived, Albert was questioned along with others and told that they could leave to go home. Albert remained in the area and was killed 1 block from where officers were called. AUTOPSY SAYS: Albert was shot from far distance!!!! So him being shot during a “struggle” makes no sense. The Chief at the time, John Mina, who has now moved down to Sheriff, stated that Albert was given CPR. That was later discovered to not be true. None of their claims align with the autopsy report and this hasn’t went far enough for us to receive the answers we deserve. One of the main claims made by the Chief were that drugs were on his person at the time of his murder but there is only one thing that is for certain in this case. Albert should still be here because whatever went on wasn’t worth his life. My brother was UNarmed and had no intent to harm a soul that night. After being released from probation for minor charges, Albert was finally working towards and doing great things. It makes no sense that he would intend to harm a cop or anybody for that matter. His only intent was to enjoy his night, make it home, to wake up the next morning, and strive for a brighter day. We want JUSTICE. We’ve found NO PEACE! & We demand answers! Kelvin Vidro is still an officer. So are the other officers that are involved. And they are still FREE!
