Tell Y-Strategy CEO Mykle Tomlinson: Respect Your Workers and Recognize Their Union!

The Issue

On Monday, August 10th, a majority of staff at the consulting firm Y-Strategy in Austin signed and submitted a formal request to their CEO, Mykle Tomlinson, requesting voluntary recognition for the Union they have formed with OPEIU Local 277.

Unfortunately, instead of following the firm's stated progressive values, Mr. Tomlinson has pursued a series of tactics intended to stall, manipulate, and derail the process, denying his employees their rights to form a Union of their own choosing. 

Specifically, Mr. Tomlinson has 

  • Refused to voluntarily recognize the workers' union despite a majority. 
  • Attempted to coerce employees to join a different union of his preference
  • Threatened employees that he may have to shut down the firm if they unionize
  • Interrogated employees about their union activity 

As a company that works with pro-labor and progressive candidates running for office in the Austin community, we must not accept this unethical and potential illegal behavior from the CEO. 

We, the undersigned, call on CEO Mykle Tomlinson to immediately voluntarily recognize Y-Strategy employees’ Union that they have formed with OPEIU Local 277 and stop these union avoidance activities.
