My family and I were victims of lead poisining from a EPA certified landlord in Buffalo NY who ultimately was arrested he served no jail time no fines and no justice for my family !! My  husband now has seizures for life due to the lead poisoning and negligence of one man.My kids have behavior issues because of the lead and I had to quit my job to take care of my husband full time I have had to set up a go fund me account because we can't afford to live anymore we have 4 children that this effected in countless ways and cost thousands of dollars out of pocket all because our landlord did not want to make my house safe and ultimately livable so we had to leave. It was just unsafe to even breath in the apartment weended up in a shelter and motels for months. Now I'm stuck picking up the pieces alone and basically being a single mother while he walks free and works buys more properties and has more people living in the same house as my family and I with no work done to it because he was given more time 5+ years is enough time time for all to be held accountable. This man ruined my life my husband's life completely and has caused my kids heart ache they didn't need and issues at school that were never there before all this. Not to mention what my kids have to see and experience when their dad seizes in front of them. I have been working with the Buffalo news on a story about all of this as well an will be doing a full news interview very soon. Please share no one should ever have to go through what I am especially when it was 100% preventable 

We have laws in place but at the end of the day these landlords are given years to get work done or the dept of health comes in and places a Piece of paper on the door that is easily ripped off that says DO NOT OCCUPY the people don't care it comes down and they take my money for rent this is all illegal and looked past I want stricter laws I want fines I want restitution I want you to not be able to buy property and rent it out after so many offences I want higher standards for housing no one should live in an unsafe rental especially you pay rent for a reason I want justice for those who were in the right it is time for Landlords to be held accountable for there non action. That knock on the door on the 1st of the month shouldn't come if your tenant is not safe. If you are certified an many are you should not be allowed to abate your own property. There should be a special unit set up in NY DEPT OF HEALTH who specialize in lead abatement and they should be the ones doing it properly not some Joe off the street who took a couple classes. I want landlords to think about the safety and well being of their tenants not the next rent payment!!
