📝 MY BROTHER’S KEEPER PETITION

In Defense of the Dignity, Livelihood, and Rights of the Vulnerable Workers of Trinidad and Tobago

We, the undersigned citizens of Trinidad and Tobago, stand in united and unwavering support of thousands of our brothers and sisters who have been unjustly terminated from their lawful employment under programs such as CEPEP, URP, Reforestation, and others.
These workers, many of whom come from at-risk and underserved communities, have long served as the backbone of our nation’s environmental, infrastructural, and community upliftment efforts.

We express deep concern and strong opposition to the decision of the newly elected Government to abruptly cancel  contracts, thereby rendering thousands unemployed, vulnerable, and without recourse.

This decision is not merely administrative it is a grave social and economic injustice. It has stripped dignity, bread, and hope from the hands of hard-working citizens who rely on these jobs to feed their families, send their children to school, and maintain a sense of purpose and belonging within our communities.

We, therefore, call for the following:

 1. Immediate Review and reinstatement of the terminated contracts.

2. Public justification for the decision taken and transparency in all related actions.

3. Restorative measures to ensure the well-being and income security of all affected workers.

4. Protection of Community-Based Employment Programs from political victimization.

This petition is a call for justice, compassion, and responsible governance. We urge the government to reverse this harmful decision, uphold the rights of the people, and demonstrate that no citizen, especially the vulnerable, will be left behind.

Together, we declare:

“I am my brother’s keeper. The people deserve better.”
